Sora

Sora is OpenAI's video generation model, released publicly in December 2024 for Pro users.

Features

  • Text → video generation: creates videos up to 20 seconds from a prompt
  • Image → video: animates a static image
  • Video → video: extends or transforms existing videos
  • High resolution: up to 1080p
  • Controllable camera movement (zoom, pan, etc.)

Access

Sora is available in:

  • ChatGPT Pro (full access)
  • ChatGPT Plus (limited access)
  • API (via OpenAI API — coming soon)

Current limitations

  • Maximum ~20 seconds per clip
  • May exhibit physical inaccuracies in complex scenes
  • Not available in some countries due to regulations
